Q. When does the cup start?
A. The cup starts week 6 instead of friendlies. This is week beginning 10th November 2008. This means that the first challenges go out starting from the 6th November 2008.
Q. What if I'm still in the national cup?
A. You then have to forfeit any matches that you would have been in and the match is awarded as a 1-0 walkover to your opponent.
Q. What if I'm still in the national cup and so is my opponent?
A. The game is a 0-0 draw.
Q. Are the matches played under cup or normal rules?
A. All group phase matches are played under normal rules with all knockout matches played under cup rules.
Q. What if I make a mistake and play a group phase match under cup rules?
A. The result at 90 minutes will stand so the match will be a draw with only goals scored in the 90 minutes counting towards goal difference.
Q. What happens if my opponent has already scheduled another friendly?
A. Send a message to the cup administrator as notification and he will reply to confirm your match has been marked down as a 3-0 walkover victory. It's important to wait for the administrator to confirm the walkover before you arrange another friendly. If you do not mail the cup administrator before arranging another schedule then your match may be awarded either to your opponent or as a 0-0 draw. Remember that it is your responsibility to make sure the cup administrator is notified!
Q. My opponent has not accepted my match invitation so what should I do?
A. Mail your opponent in game and remind them of your scheduled THFC Cup match. If you receive no response or your opponent has not logged in then mail the cup administrator in game. Note that for group stage matches it's fair for your opponent to accept your challenge or challenge you up 18:00 HT time on the Sunday before the scheduled match. For knockout stage matches your opponent has until 18:00 on the Monday to accept.
However, your opponent may also extend that time until 18:00 on the Monday proceeding the scheduled match provided they send you a HT mail in advance. Historically there have been several times where a user has gone away for a short holiday before they could make or accept a challenge but were back on the Monday.
If in any doubt - mail danyul in game.
Playing a friendly game is vital for training in Hattrick so if your opponent seems to be away from the Internet then the match will be marked down as a 3-0 walkover and you can schedule another friendly. Again - make sure you receive confirmation back from the cup administrator before arranging the new friendly.
It's important to wait for the administrator to confirm the walkover before you arrange another friendly. If you do not mail the cup administrator before arranging another schedule then your match may be awarded either to your opponent or as a 0-0 draw. Remember that it is your responsibility to make sure the cup administrator is notified!
Q. I won my match so now what?
A. Wohooo! congrats. Post the result in the relevant Fed Cup thread on the conference and brag! The Cup administrator bookmarks all the scheduled matches and they will be added onto this site with the full standings available on the following Thursday. Remember that the scheduling of a match is dependent on the country schedule so not all matches are played at the same time.
Q. How many points for a win/draw?
A. You will be awarded 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw.
Q. The group phase is over so who goes through?
A. The winners of each group. The cup has 64 teams this season so only the group winners will now move onto the knockout phase.
Q. Hang on a goddamn minute! Don't we have something for the runners-up now?
A. That's correct. Each group runner-up now goes through to the 'Plate' competition that will run in parallel with the main Fed Cup competition. The Plate competition will also beupdated on this site.
Q. Everyone in my group has the same amount of points so who tops the group?
A. If teams have equal points then the rankings are based on goal difference. If these are equal as well then rankings will be based on total goals scored. If these are equal as well then the head-to-head records between the teams will determine the ranking. If somehow we manage to have teams exactly equal still then nick_morris will make a draw to determine who tops the group.
Q. Where can I see the group standings and draw for the knockout stages?
A. All the match schedules, group standings, and knockout matches will be posted here on this web site with reminders on the THFC Fed conference. Please note that we have participants from a range of countries so some games will be played later in the week compared to your country friendly schedule. This means that group updates will be posted near the end of each week as we need to wait for all matches to finish.
Q. I have a problem that is not covered here, what should I do?
A. Send an in game mail to the Cup Administrator (danyul) and he will get back to you. The Fed Cup Committee's decision is final in all disputes.
Q. Can I just play all the home games but not play away in other countries?
A. No, No, No, and No! Anyone found to be just using the Fed Cup for arranging home international matches then failing to play away games will be eliminated from the Cup and replaced at the earliest opportunity.
Q. I made it to the semi-final so how does that game work?
A. The semi-final is a single game held at a neutral ground. The stadiums will be chosen based on a 'best arena picture' competition run before the games are scheduled to take place. Those that get 2nd and 3rd in the arena competition will host the semi-final matches although they should make sure to play an away friendly that week so the semi-finalists have time to schedule the match. It has to be a neutral ground so if you make it to the semi-final *and* you are drawn to host the semi-final then another name will be drawn.
Q. I made it to the final so how does that game work?
A. The final is a single game held at a neutral ground. The stadium will be chosen based on a 'best arena picture' competition run before the games are scheduled to take place. The winner of the arena competition will host the final although they should make sure to play an away friendly that week so the finalists have time to schedule the match. It has to be a neutral ground so if you make it to the final *and* you are drawn to host the final then another name will be drawn.
Q. I won! What do I get?
A. You get the honour of winning the THFC Fed Cup and having your name immortalised on this site. You also win a 3 month supporter package.
There is no prize for the Plate competition winner other than the all round good feeling you get from having your name immortalised on this site.
Q. I did not make the Final or win the best arena competition. Is there anything else on offer?
A. Yes! You can also take part in th Fed Final prediction competition and win yourself a small chocolate egg. Lucky you ;-)
Q. I won the Fed Cup so any chance I can play the Plate winner and declare myself the undisputed champion of champions?
A. Yes! Provided that neither winner has a playoff match then both shall square off during the last friendly slot of the season. |
