How did you find Hattrick?
The Guardian newspaper had an online review of hattrick.
Where did your Hattrick team name come from?
I'm from Wales originally and Cymru is Welsh for Wales. Someone already had Welsh Spurs.
How did you discover the wonders of the THFC Fed?
I didn't really use the feds when I first got supporter but then I thought - I wonder if there a bunch of Spurs supporters around - hey presto - addiction to Hattrick increased suddenly.
Why did you become a Spurs supporter?
The first football game I watched on TV was Spurs vs Liverpool - and I loved the way Spurs played, even though they lost.
Favourite current Spurs player?
mmm Robbo or Ledders, probably Ledders comes out on top as he was home grown.
Greatest ever Spurs player?
Blimey - my hero was Hoddle when I was a kid. So I'll go with him. Everyone used to want to be hoddle when we played football, we usually had several hoddles on the field.
Worst ever Spurs player?
What was that right back - tremezzani or something - what was it 2m for 2 appearances?
Greatest Spurs manager?
In my time venables or Burkinshaw - probably Burkinshaw as he didn't leave us up the proverbial shit creek.
Worst Spurs manager?
Gross - he was saved by Ginola from getting us relegated.
What has been the high point and low point of the current Spurs season for you?
Low points of last season were not making the UEFA cup and getting beat by Liverpool's 2nds....high point was the demolition job on Everton. Jol announced his arrival.
What was the first Spurs match that you saw? (WHL and TV)
At WHL was vs Newcastle, won that 2-0 I think. On TV it was vs Liverpool where Crooks did a great backwards header into the roof of the net past a despairing Grobelaar but we lost in the end. I just loved the way they passed the ball around - Ardiles, Hoddle, Hazzard, Archibald - great days
What is the most memorable Spurs match you have seen and why?
Seen on TV or actually there? best on TV was probably either Spurs winning the UEFA cup in a shoot out or beating the scum in the FA Cup semi-final - I went nuts that day :) - gazza's last great performance. Went downhill from there for ages.
What was the worst Spurs match you have ever seen?
there've been some bad times in recent years - i nearly gave up on being a spurs fan for 2 weeks in the last few months of Pleat's reign it was too depressing and frustrating - but i couldn't manage it - impossible....
Do you own any Spurs football shirts? What designs?
Only spurs t shirts - i have some of the "never red" ones - not into polyester - although I am tempted this season
Favourite Spurs shirt design?
the new 1st strip is growing on me - otherwise the Holsten one - i wish we'd lose thompson as sponsor.
If you could sign any current Premiership player for Spurs who would it be?
Terry - think of that defence!
If you could sign any current world player for Spurs then who would it be?
Kaka
Spurs Tactic - can Defoe and Keane ever play together? Could 4-3-3 ever work for Spurs?
They can play together with the right team - I don't think we are that team though. The way we want to play we need a big man.
433 has never worked for us - please try something else Mr Jol. I see 352 with our inners and wingers next season. Our strikers are top class but trying to make sure they all play a part in every match is a waste of time. I think we should pair them up - Mido Keane works for me. Or Defoe Kanoute. Defoe only seems to play his best with Kanoute.
Do you have a job in real life? What is it?
I'm looking for a new one - need to get back into real life after a 2 yr self-employed holiday/break - can't think what to do though. Previous incarnations have been as an investment banker, an R&D Engineer at Ford, a programmer, and a Business Consultant. Good thing my bird gives me an allowance ;)
What did you do with your spare time, before HT?
Mixture of sport, surfing the net, music and my bird
Can you tell us about your best and worst day in HT?
Best day was when a 26 yr old excellent winger & passing popped to excellent PM with 1 wk PM training - phew. Worst day - choosing to fire my coach by accident....
What has been the highlight of the Hattrick season for you?
Beating the last 2 seasons champions of my series 2-0 using PIC - quite a dodgy result! [matchID=44373292]
Do you have a favourite Hattrick player and why? (That's an actual player and not manager)
Not really - as long as I can turn a profit I'm not too bothered - maybe at a higher level it will be different.
If you had the chance, what one thing would you change in HT?
I don't like you only get a max of 91% of the fee for a player you have trained for 3 seasons.....the game is slow enough....and I'm pretty bitter about the weather this season! My stadium is under the recommended size but hasn't been more than 3/4 full this season and only a couple of home games left.[moan moan moan]
Everyone makes a newbie mistake when they start HT, what was yours?
I hired a solid coach then fired him almost instantly on day 3 - I wasn't sure I was going to stay with the game and so was a bit click happy..... hence no cash for 2 seasons.....and an inad coach.
What position do you train? Have you always trained the same position?
Did passing for my first season as I blew all my cash and my trainees were too old to make it worth doing much else. PM training for the last 2 seasons. Luckily prices for players with passing went up nicely since i joined so it worked out ok.
Who has been your HT inspiration?
ermmm.....I can't say there is one - the better the player usually the more annoying ;-)
Have you had any rivalries with other Hattrick managers?
Nah - keep it low key and hope they MOTS someone else....
Who is the biggest muppet in the Fed and why?
I kinda like the guys in the fed - would say most of the muppets can be found in HT-England....probably a gooner!
Who has been your inspiration or mentor in Hattrick?
Well, the only direct advice I ever received was from Bitter_Endz, when i was a 1st season noob, I didn't listen though.....
Who makes you laugh in the Hattrick world? (either Fed conference or elsewhere)
I couldn't say there is anyone in particular although the Grumpy old men fed does generate more than it's fair share of laughs - Bitter-endz can be quite amusing from time to time.
Hattrick Tactic - what did you make of the Fed Cup final? How would you have played that match? (MatchID=39669507)
It's a tough one, but I think as the home side I would have gone with 352 normal and hope I got lucky and finished my chances avoiding the CA from Midnattsol, and that my defence could hold out against his much weaker attack. Titans really were in a tight spot there.
Favourite joke? - i like the longer variety so here goes...
A man had been lost and wandering in the Chinese wilderness for 3 months. All he had to eat was what he could forage and was forced to sleep wherever he could find shelter.
One day he came upon an old farm house. In answer to his knock, an old Chinese gentleman asked "What do you want?"
"I have been lost in the wilderness for 3 months and have not had a decent meal or sleep in just as long. May I stay the night?"
The old man agreed under the condition that there be no messing with his granddaughter.
"Of course, that won't be a problem," the man said, thinking to himself he really didn't have the strength for any action.
"That's very good," said the old man, "because if I catch you with my granddaughter, you will suffer the three most severe Chinese tortures."
The granddaughter attended the evening meal and the man was awestruck by her beauty. Since he had been alone for so long and she had not been with a man in her life, they could hardly keep their eyes off of each other during the meal.
Later that night the man crept into her room and they had a terrific time together. They were careful to be quiet lest they awaken the grandfather. Afterwards, the man returned to his bedroom, and thought:
"That was worth enduring a thousand tortures." He then fell promptly asleep and had the best sleep he'd had in three months to round off the perfect day.
When he woke up he felt an incredible weight on his chest. He then realized that there was a 100 pound rock on his chest. On the rock was a sign that read: "1st Chinese Torture - 100 Pound Rock On Chest."
Big deal - this is some lame torture thought the man as he carried it over to the window and threw it out.
Then he noticed another sign on the bottom of the rock: "2nd Chinese torture - Right Testicle Tied To Rock." Knowing that it was too late to catch the rock, the man hurled himself out of the window after it.
Passing through the window the man saw a third sign on the window ledge: "3rd Chinese Torture - Left Testicle Tied To Bedpost."
Do you have a favourite football chant that makes you laugh?
Hmm probably something like: You can stick Sol Campbell up your arse, Singing we've got Ledley at the back
What is your favourite Book?
Dan Simmons stuff is great - liked the Hyperion series, am reading his newest series of Ilium and Olympus now
What is your favourite TV show?
aw man tv is pants these days. I liked DS9 lots....bird hogs the TV and I hog the PC - that's the deal. Match of the Day or other sport overules the first rule though
Do you play any other good online games?
I couldn't class any of them to be close to hattrick - but I'm on the waiting list for Battrick, The Five Pillars kept my attention for a while before I gave up, and I have played things like Diablo online. World of Warcraft may be next.
Best movie of the year? - batman begins
What was the last album you bought? - stopped buying CDs a long time ago when I filled up my CD racks - mostly downloads now, so the last CD would have been Stereophonics - just Enough Education to Perform, the last tracks I downloaded were probably from Clubland 2 (Ministry of Sound) and Dakota (Stereophonics) |
