| How did you find Hattrick? There is a small but very knowledgable group of HT'ers on a financial site that I use and we have our own area to talk Hattrick. I saw the game linked from there. Where did your Hattrick team name come from? I was born and grew up in Ashford, Kent. Ashford Spurs did not sound as fluid as Ashford Villa. Any significance for your teams strip? Yes, they are as close the to Spurs colours as I can get them. I would go with the Ashford Town FC colours but they are a horrible green. How did you discover the wonders of the THFC Fed? I searched for it. I joined both Spurs Feds but never saw a post in the other one so left there after 2 days. Why is the THFC Fed your favourite? The information about Spurs in one place is fantastic. It would take hours to find that information on your own. The polls that are run really help to keep the fed active. Any suggestions on how the Fed can be improved? None that I can think off. I am sure anyone with any ideas would post them. What other Feds are you a member of and why? The Kent Fed - Where I grew up and keeping it local. Why did you become a Spurs supporter? I was 7 and my best mate at the time supported them. Favourite current Spurs player? Has to be Ledley King. I just hope we win some things for the player, as a player with his ability does not deserve to go through his career without winning any silverwear. If this has not happened by the time he is 29, as much as I hate to say it, he should leave. I would hate to be in that position when he is 50 and looking back over his career when he is one of the best players in the world in his position and to not win anything. Greatest ever Spurs player? Gazza. If only someone had looked after him outside of football. I think he could have finished his career with the same reputation as Pele. Worst ever Spurs player? Lots of choices but no one stands out although no one has mentioned Jason Cundy yet who would be high up my list. Greatest Spurs manager? I did not see Bill Nic and the teams he put out. In my time, it would have to be Terry Venables. I was gutted when he left. Worst Spurs manager? Christian Gross. He was recommended to Spurs by one of the managers who turned us down. Was a big risk that went wrong, big time!!! What has been the high point and low point of the last Spurs season for you? The high point was our start where we were challenging at the top of the league(sound familiar?). The low point, well I have two, our usual slump over Christmas(sound familiar again?) and losing to Liverpool in the League cup when there reserves beat us. Grrr.... What was the first Spurs match that you saw? (WHL and TV) Never been to White Hart Lane. I will do at some point in the future but it takes up too much time which I prefer to spend on the golf course. The first I can remember on TV was the 1987 FA Cup final against Coventry. What is the most memorable Spurs match you have seen and why? Probably the 1991 FA Cup final against Nottingham Forest or the semi-final against against Ars*nal. Both were great games with even better results. What was the worst Spurs match you have ever seen? These normally leave the memory very quickly. Even though I was not watching the game live, the 4-3 defeat against Portsmouth a couple of seasons ago was probably the worst. I remember checking the score at half-time on the internet while working and see it was 3-0, left happy. It was only when I was woken up the next day by the news on the radio did I hear the final result. I was absolutely gutted. Do you own any Spurs football shirts? What designs? None what so ever. I do own a couple of scarfs from the 80's. Favourite Spurs shirt design? The recent ones have been a poor design and I liked the holsten one the best. With the spurs colours, it should be easy to come up with a trendy looking football shirt. If you could sign any current Premiership player for Spurs who would it be? Thiery Henry. There is not a better player in the league and it would trump the Campbell debacle. It would make speaking to any Ars*nal fan a pleasure for years to come. If he could score a goal against them, we could live on that glory for a lifetime... If you could sign any current world player for Spurs then who would it be? I can't think of any player who would improve our team more than Henry. Maybe Robben would solve our left wing problems. Do you have a job in real life? What is it? I work as an IT Consultant for a finance company which is part of the one of the biggest conglomerates in the world. What did you do with your spare time, before HT? I spend a lot of time on the golf course. This has not changes since HT. I also spent a lot more time at the gym and playing Championship Manager/Football Manager. Now HT gives me my football management fix and I visit the gym once a week. Can you tell us about your best and worst day in HT? Best day was winning my series(V.98) last season. I was 6th in the league at the half way point of the season. Worst was suffering relegation after 6 weeks of playing the game due to being put into a really tough V when I joined. At that point I dropped to 465 supporters with the 10% loss. Another really good day was when I worked out how wages were a better reflection on a players skill than TSI. Until recently when the tool was released to the HT world by another HT'er, I had a massive advantage over the majority of the other HT managers. I could pick a high solid and be 90% sure that he would pop with 1 weeks training. This new tool is good but does have some inaccuracies which have yet to be covered. What has been the best improvement made to Hattrick and why? I like the introduction of the new tactics as they make you think about the game a bit more. I just wish they were more effective. What has been the highlight of the Hattrick season for you? Winning all my games in the league and cup at the time of writing this. I expect the cup run to end this evening(round 5) and I have my toughest game of the season this weekend (week 5). Both unbeaten runs could end within 5 days of each other. Do you have a favourite Hattrick player and why? (That's an actual player and not manager) Quentin Guilpain. He was a week 4 Solid youth pull. He is now my best player at the age of 21 and is still being trained. I expect he will stay with my team until he is in his 30's. Who has been you best recent Hattrick signing and why? I have only signed 3 players for the long term team in the last 2 seasons. I would have to say the 20 year old Brilliant winger with Solid PM was the best. He is being trained in PM and is currently at Excellent. I plan to train him to Outstanding or Brilliant PM. If you had the chance,what one thing would you change in HT? Make stamina as important for all outfield players as it is for Inner Midfielders. Everyone makes a newbie mistake when they start HT, what was yours? I did this twice, in season 25 and season 26. I forgot to change from Stamina back to PM training after the close season and ending up giving my players an extra unplanned week of stamina training in both seasons. Three weeks stamina training really destroys your form. What position do you train? Have you always trained the same position? I train Playmaking now. I did 6 weeks of defender training as a newbie with only 1 pop. Once relegated to VI.276, I trained strikers for that season with 3 of those strikers still playing in my team. If you were giving advice to a new Hattrick player now, what would you say? Train Stamina for 3-4 weeks while choosing your training routine. This is the quickest way to improve a new team. Have you had any rivalries with other Hattrick managers? Yes, about 30 other HT'ers. I have met one when we were in the same league for a season before he got promoted. I am sure if I was in the same league as another active fed member, a rivalry would be created. It adds to the fun of the game. Who is the biggest muppet in the Fed and why? Muppet is the wrong description but I think ldnfatso is a character. Who has been your inspiration or mentor in Hattrick? Up until the middle of last season, my HT inspiration was Fidemaster. He really did know Hattrick well before he then left in disgrace. He was also a mentor along with a few other HT'ers. I have received advice before of WokingReserves and I am glad to see him doing a fantastic job in getting the England community involved in the England U20's. Who makes you laugh in the Hattrick world? (either Fed conference or elsewhere) xxxxx_Endz depending on his moniker is another great character and makes me laugh the most when reading the conferences. Favourite joke? Three medical students were enjoying a drink at pavement café when one of them noticed a man coming towards them and walking in an odd manner. "Look at this poor guy," he said, "he's obviously in the advanced stages of syphilis." "Nonsense," said one of his friends, "he's suffering from acute piles." "No way," declared the third, "it's got to be callouses on his feet." "Well, we won't know unless we ask him," said the first and, as the man was about to pass their table, he called "Excuse me, sir, would you mind helping us to settle an argument?". The man approached the table. "My friends and I are medical students and we were discussing your obvious discomfort, but we can't agree on what's causing it. Would you mind helping us out?" "Very well," said the man, "but only if you first tell me what you each diagnosed." "OK," said the student. "I thought it was syphilis, my friend here thought it was piles and this one reckons you have callouses on your feet." "We were all wrong, then, weren't we?" replied the man, "because I thought it was a fart." What is your favourite Book? I have two: What is your favourite TV show? Hustle Do you play any other good online games? Does Poker count??? Christina Aguilera or Britney Spears in nothing but a Spurs home shirt, you can only have one, who would it be? Can I have the football shirt as I do not own one yet? No... Ok then, Christina, but I would need to the next day off to recover. Best movie of the year? Only one I have seen this year is Hitch. Best movie of all time? Con Air What was the last album you bought? Good, bad, indifferent? Cannot remember. Favourite band of all time? Queen Favourite album of all time? Depends on my mood. |
