| How did you find Hattrick? My mate “Jimmyboy - Funky Cold Modena” had been playing a while and sent me the link, I was then hooked.
How much time do you spend on average, per day, on Hattrick? These days probably only about half an hour a day, when I started think was about 5 hours a day minimum. Where did your Hattrick team name come from? It is the name I have always used for Fantasy Football and other games, My name is Derek so nickname has always been Del. The team bit is from work where we have a massive American customer who went through a phase of calling everything Team, I just found it amusing and used it, and so TeamDel was born. Any significance for your teams strip? Dysentery Brown, its my favorite colour What is the “weird” thing you do in Hattrick that really doesn’t make any sense? Risk my whole season by playing full strength team in a one off friendly against my mate every season. What ambitions do you have in the game, how far would you dream of going? My aim has always been getting division IV, With the amount of people in the game these days I cant really see TeamDel getting further than division III, but you never know How did you discover the wonders of the THFC Fed? Well after getting completely hooked on hattrick, I got supporter and straight away looked for a spurs fed, found 2, joined them both and have stuck with one. Why is the THFC Fed your favourite? Really is the only one I ever use anymore, It is the only fed that I have been a part of where the people in it are really, really active and usually a laugh Any suggestions on how the Fed can be improved? We could have 2 cups dependant on league position as to allow more members to participate. What other Feds are you a member of and why? Am a member of new music and playmakers feds but don’t really use them as are either a bit dull or inactive Why did you become a Spurs supporter? No one in my family was into football so I was never taken to games or brought up with a team so all the football I watched was on the telly. When I first saw Hoddle and Waddle I decided that was how football should be played and that’s when Spurs became my team. Favourite current Spurs player? The prince of football – Robbie Keane Greatest ever Spurs player? Greatest I have seen is Gazza. He could turn a game in second and could have been the greatest the world had ever seen. My favorite though will always be Sir Les though as I always admired his attitude on the pitch, he would always take a fine to abuse a ref. Worst ever Spurs player? Andy Gray, he was amazing at throw ins but awful at everything else Greatest Spurs manager? Bill Nich Worst Spurs manager? Peter Shreeve, he ruined a cup winning side What has been the high point and low point of the last Spurs season for you? High point was the amount of goals Jermaine scored and low point was failing to get into Europe What was the first Spurs match that you saw? (WHL and TV) At WHL it was a draw against Leeds. I didn’t get to go to the lane until I was old enough to drive. Looking back the game was not that special I just remember how brilliant it was to finally be at the lane. On TV it would be a Derby game against the gooners, think it finished 1-0 to them and Alan Smith probably scored the goal. What is the most memorable Spurs match you have seen and why? The 1987 cup final against Coventry. not just greatest spurs match but the greatest match I have ever seen. It had everything, the only bad thing about it was the result. What was the worst Spurs match you have ever seen? Losing to Blackburn in the league cup final in 2002 was pretty awful Do you own any Spurs football shirts? What designs? I have loads, my oldest is the 1986/87 season Hummel shirt and I have a 1990/91 shirt signed by all the team which is pretty special. I like the recent Kappa ones but they don’t look as good on me. Favourite Spurs shirt design? I think it was for the 1988 season it was a white Hummel shirt with diagonal blue lines on the top half. It was amazing. If you could sign any current Premiership player for Spurs who would it be? As much as I hate to say it Henry, he has it all. If you could sign any current world player for Spurs then who would it be? Michael Ballack but looks like he is going somewhere else Do you have a job in real life? What is it? Yes, I am an office monkey and it is a complete waste of my life, but I am trying to get a job in fundraising for charities at the moment. What did you do with your spare time, before HT? Up until a couple of seasons ago I still played football in the local league but my knees finally told me to pack up. Other than that I play a bit of Badminton and like to Kayak when I can. Can you tell us about your best and worst day in HT? My best day was a couple of season ago when I finally beat my mate to win the Lindley Londesborough Trophy. It is a match we have every year where we play our first teams and the winner gets a real trophy. My worst day was realizing that if a team worse than me chooses to AIM they will have a chance of ruining my entire season. What has been the best improvement made to Hattrick and why? Letting people join more feds was a good step What has been the highlight of the Hattrick season for you? To still be in with a shout of the title even though I have had some bad results Do you have a favourite Hattrick player and why? (That's an actual player and not manager) Lawrence O’Healihy – I have had him since day one and the other day he was still my best performer. Who has been you best recent Hattrick signing and why? I actually have just bought a titanic striker this morning, I only had 2 quality strikers and one is getting on a bit so I have spashed out. His name is Detlev Ernenputsch and he will be a star. Do you have any players that don’t really play, but you keep them anyway? why? Yes, Henry Jeffries as he is and old playmaker but is always nice to have around, He is the only other player I have had since day one. If you had the chance,what one thing would you change in HT? I would have implemented the tactics from day one. My team was just getting to a stage when it could compete then when the tactics came in it really threw me. I understand they are necessary was just annoying timing for me and put me back a few seasons. Everyone makes a newbie mistake when they start HT, what was yours? The team I started with was awful, I had 1 solid playmaker a passable defender and a passable striker, the rest of the team was pants. I blew all my cash and plunged into debt within a couple of weeks after trying to get a better team without really knowing what I was doing. It took me ages to get the club profitable and going in the right direction. What position do you train? Have you always trained the same position? I now train playmaking as I still think it is most vital part of the game at my level. I did train defending when I started as my defenders were my youngest players If you were giving advice to a new Hattrick player now, what would you say? Make the club profitable before spending on players. Who has been your HT inspiration? Don’t think I have an inspiration really, TK was a great help with training tips when I first started though. Have you had any rivalries with other Hattrick managers? Jimmyboy at Funky Cold Modena, I went to school with him and we have been mates for years, he is without doubt my biggest rival. There was also a team in my league a few seasons ago, Roedels he used to really annoy me with the rubbish he talked. Who is the biggest muppet in the Fed and why? Not sure really, though there is a certain Charlton fan who really needs to decide what team he supports. Who has been your inspiration or mentor in Hattrick? As I said before TK was a help at the beginning, other than that reading the rules and the newbie conference has really helped. Who makes you laugh in the Hattrick world? (either Fed conference or elsewhere) Simmons with his Charlton outlook and Ldn with his angry approach, you have to admire them. Favourite joke? Three men in a bath all feeling happy, so happy got out. Do you have a favourite football chant that makes you laugh? Best chant I ever heard was at the Dell. Glen Cockerill would run up to the Saints fans and they would all shout at him “CAPTAIN CRAP” What is your favourite Book? I read “The Wrong Boy” by Willy Russell recently, that was good What is your favourite TV show? Peep Show, as it is pure genius, and also the fact that Hollyoaks is now a bit rubbish Do you play any other good online games? Not really, Hattrick is enough Christina Aguilera or Britney Spears in nothing but a Spurs home shirt, you can only have one, who would it be? That’s like asking me Chas or Dave, without one the other is nothing, so I will have to refuse to answer Best movie of the year? Napoleon Dynamite was very funny Best movie of all time? Empire Strikes Back or Rocky What was the last album you bought? Good, bad, indifferent? Probably Hard Fi or Maximo Park, I am not sure which, but both are very good Favourite band of all time? The Stones, although you cant beat a bit of Bowie now and again Favourite album of all time? Hard question as I have so many but for pure reminiscing and fun value I would have to say Casual Sex in the Cinemaplex by Sultans of Ping FC |
